Meet the Keegans

Keegan’s Pack Goats grew out of our shared love of animals, the outdoors, and teaching others about the unique world of working pack goats.

David and Lacey Keegan, are avid backpackers who spend much of our free time exploring the Sierra Nevada and other wild places. We each bring a different background to Keegan’s Pack Goats, and combining those experiences has become one of the strengths of our program.

Lacey has worked with animals most of her life. She began training horses as a child, grew up participating in FFA and county fairs, and earned the title of State Champion Equestrian in high school. Her lifelong experience with livestock and animal training plays a major role in how we raise, handle, and train our goats.

David comes from a background in outdoor adventure, guiding, coaching, and education. He spent many years as a whitewater river guide on California’s Kern River, including guiding professionally for Sierra South, where safety, education, and creating memorable outdoor experiences were always priorities. He has also coached high school wrestling for several years, developing a strong ability to teach and connect with young people.

Together, we combine Lacey’s experience in animal training and livestock with David’s background in outdoor leadership, coaching, and education to create something we both enjoy—raising and training dependable pack goats while sharing what these remarkable animals can do with others.

Keegan’s Pack Goats brings together the things we love most: animals, the outdoors, education, and giving families an opportunity to experience something they may have never seen before.
